Three Wise Women

This was a piece of canvas that I decided to use for this art quilt. It has been painted with fabric paint, oil pastels, and fabric markers. I hand stitched and machine stitched to add more details.

Sunprinting

This ia one of my finished pieces that I started by using sunprinting to create the design on the fabric. It has been quilted and embroidered. 14" x 16"

Emma's Outfit.

Finished the dress and sweater for Emma. Had enough fabric left over to make a dress to match for her American Girl doll. The dresses are reversible. Everything is made of cotton.

Brody's Quilt

Brody is expected to arrive next month. His room is based on a giraffe theme. This will be the center panel of his quilt. I used fabric paint to create the images and it does not make the fabric stiff. It is super. Will show finished quilt later.

Doll Dress

This is a little outfit I made for my granddaughter, Emma's doll. First time that I have sewn for a doll.

Underground Railroad Quilt

A 5th grade reading class at Oakland Elementary School where I teach art had just completed reading a book about Harriet Tubman. The students were given fabric squares and examples of the patterns that were used as codes. They colored the cloth with fabric markers. I have sewn all their squares together to make the top of the quilt. I still have to get batting and backing. Then the quilting will begin.

Snow Dyeing 2011

1. Fabric that has been treated with soda ash left outside overnight.

2. Snow packed on top of fabric.

3. Dye has been squirted on to fabric.

4. Snow dispersing the dye.

5. Fabric thawing in sink for 20m hours.
